Obituary

Adeline Theresa Bombola, of East Chatham, NY passed away April 18, 2010 after a short period of declining health at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 4, 1923 in Housatonic, MA the daughter of the late Antoni and Theresa Krol Surowiec.  Adeline moved to East Chatham as a baby when her family relocated there to start the family dairy farm.  She worked very hard on the farm with the rest of her family.  She was educated in the Chatham School System.  Adeline and Ted started growing blueberries in the late 1970's and she was known as the Blueberry Queen.  She was an avid quilter and won many blue ribbons at the Columbia County Fair.  Adeline loved dancing and listening to Polka Music.  She was also a member of the East Chatham Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Adeline was married to Howard Forgette in 1943 and was widowed in 1952.  She later married Theodore S. Bombola Sr. on June 7, 1958 in Saint James Church, Chatham, NY. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Elizabeth (Forgette) and Lewis Bemiss of East Chatham, NY; Theresa and Bob Menko of Whately, MA and Theodore Jr. and Sandy Bombola of Chatham, NY.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Joseph Menko of Whately, MA ; Teddy Bombola III of Chatham, NY;  Joan Bemiss Hotaling of Gloversville, NY ; David Bemiss of Hillsdale, NY; Daniel Bemiss of East Chatham, NY; and James Bemiss of Canaan, NY;  her step grandchildren, Bobby Menko of Greenfield, MA and Christina Menko of Turners Falls, MA; her great grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Victoria and Brittany Bemiss, Kaylee, and Kourtney Hotaling and Bradley Bemiss .  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many special friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore in 2000 and her three brothers Thomas, Chester and Jules. Family will receive friends Thursday, April 22nd from 6 to 9 pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 23 at 2 pm in Saint James Church, Chatham, NY.  Interment will follow at Saint James Cemetery, Ghent, NY.
