Alberta Virginia Decker

Alberta Virginia Decker of Ghent passed away June 28, 2021 at the Ghent Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born December 7, 1931 in Pittsfield MA. to the late Charles and Freda Gate French. Alberta lived in Richmond, MA and move to Nassau NY where she grew up and went to school. She would later attend the Albany Business College. She worked for the NYS tax department for several years until she married and moved to Chatham, NY. She would raise her family there. She went on to work at Columbia Memorial Hospital for twenty five years. Alberta was all about family, she enjoyed crocheting but her real love was her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Gordon Charles (Helen) of Old Chatham, daughter, Brenda Jean (Terry) Anderson of Ghent, and son, Aaron Phillip (Amy) of Hannacroix, her grandchildren Rebecca Lee, Laura Lee, Catherine Lee and Joel Matthias, Joshua Aaron, and Alicia Anne. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, and daughter Wendy Susan. Graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10am at the Chatham Rural Cemetery.
