August F. Schlotterer passed away April 4, 2010 at the Glendale Nursing Home. He was born May 26, 1921 in the Bronx and was the son of August F. and Rose Liedecker Schlotterer.
August moved to New Lebanon as a young boy and graduated from Chatham High School. He served in the United States Coast Guard as an Electrician's Mate Second Class during WWII. When he returned he worked as a project manager for GE in Schenectady, NY.
He retired to Murrels Inlet S. Carolina and only returned to Scotia after a hurricane destroyed his home.
He is survived by his daughters; Frances S. Kahn (Andrew) Burnt Hills, NY and Elizabeth C. Heddesheimer (Bruce), Scotia, NY, grandchildren; Kimberly and Alex Kahn, Mallory and Eric Heddesheimer, Great grandchildren; Jane and Dean Kahn, Patrick Hyam, Jr. and Makayla DeRosa.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty, his sister, Claire and brother, Herman.
Family will receive friends Thursday April 8th from 9 to 10am at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl funeral home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. Prayers will be offered at 10am at the funeral home and interment will follow at Saint James Cemetery, Ghent, NY
