Barbara W. Herbs, 72, longtime resident of Canaan, N.Y., died on Wednesday, February 14th , at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canaan, CT. Born in Great Barrington, MA. on November 29, 1934, daughter of Russell and Helen Chapin Woodbeck, she grew up in Sheffield, MA., graduating from Sheffield High School and Pittsfield Secretarial School. Barbara married Lorenzo C. "Ren" Herbs, Jr. in 1954 in Canaan, N.Y.  She was employed at Naval Ordinance in Pittsfield,  and later as Executive Secretary at Berkshire Farm for Boys in Canaan, N.Y. until her retirement. She along with her late husband, who died in August of 2002, established and operated Herbs Greenhouse from 1977 thru 1993. She is survived by four sisters, Sara Gannon of Laguna Woods, California, Carolyn Wilkinson of Southfield, MA and Nancy W. Smith and Helen Johnston both of Sheffield MA. and several nieces and nephews.
