IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce C.
Alexander
May 26, 1949 – January 24, 2025
"What did you do at work today, Dad?"
"Solved tremendous problems."
Bruce C. Alexander, 75, passed away peacefully, although unexpectedly, at his home in Ghent,
NY, on Friday, January 24, 2025.
Born May 26, 1949, in Brooklyn, raised in Queens. He attended Brooklyn Tech HS and then graduated from Cooper Union with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Employed by NYC Transit for 50 years, his last official title was NYCT Subways Senior Director, Car Equipment Engineering NYCT Office of Strategic Innovation and Technology. A wonderful mentor to his younger engineers, he shared his expertise and wit, along with his knowledge of the best places to eat. A longtime resident of the Upper West Side, he then lived out his dream of retiring to a farm in Columbia County.
He was a great listener and a generous advisor. He loved interacting with people, never missing the chance to share his knowledge and humor.
Artistic, witty and inquisitive, he liked to figure out how things worked in order to fix them. He loved to teach himself new things. Whether-building engines, installing boilers, designing chicken coops, upholstering couches, singing in a glee club, making wine and maple syrup, or tsoureki and cheesecake, his mind and hands were never idle.
A devoted family man, he is survived by his wife Celeste, daughters Christina Murphy (Jesse), Corinne and Carissa, his granddaughters Madison, Mackenzie and Makayla Murphy …
And his beloved dog, Moochie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8th at 11:00am at St. James RC Church, 117 Hudson Ave, Chatham, NY. Condolences may be conveyed at frenchblasl.com.
