Charles Herbert Lotz Sr, died on Thursday, November 29, 2019, in Albany at the VA Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Yonkers, Charles was the son of the late Leonard and Beatrice Lotz. Charles retired from the Local 211 Plumbers and Steamfitters as a plumber after 65 years of dedicated service.
Charles was a Veteran of the U.S. Army from 1951 – 1953 where he was recognized for being an accomplished Scout Dog Handler. Charles completed his training at the U.S. Army Europe Quarter-Master School in Lenggries, Germany to train dogs to be used in the reconnaissance and scouting missions.
Charles is survived by Annamarie, his loving wife of 68 years. He is also survived by his children, Charles Jr. (Deborah) Lotz of Old Chatham and Linda Kudlack of Ghent.
He was a devoted grandfather to Charles Lotz, III, Jason Kudlack, Steven Lotz and Andrea Heidelmark. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at the VA Hospital in Albany.
Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham on Wednesday, December 4th from 3 to 6pm. All are welcome to join Charles Family after calling hours at the Whitestone Café.
