Constance (Connie) Wood Knebel passed away at her home in Canaan, N.Y. on June 30, 2013. Connie was the fourth of nine children born to Agnes Troy Wood and Charles B. Wood. She is survived by four brothers: George, Matthew, Joseph, and James, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Regina and Helena and brothers Charles and Phil. Connie was born on November 2, 1934 in Boston , MA. She attended St. Mark's elementary school in Dorchester, Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Brighton and the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. After completing her education, she became a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines. She then moved to New York, where she was the secretary to the editor of ESQUIRE magazine. She was an accomplished potter, painter, and photographer. Later, she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where she met and married the author Fletcher Knebel. The Knebels stayed in Hawaii, until Fletcher's death in 1993.
Connie then moved back to the mainland and bought a home in Canaan, N.Y. She continued creating her pottery and painting in a studio on the property.
