Daniel Frank Dunton of Canaan, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 7 2015 at Albany Medical Center. Dan was born on November 11, 1949 in Pittsfield Massachusetts to Clifford Raymond and Ruth Felter-Dunton. The beloved husband of 41 years to Sarah (Sallee) Dobson Dunton and adored by his three children, Daniel Dunton (Jamie), Peter Dunton, and Bethany Williams (Jordan). He was a devoted "Pop Pop" to Layne, Rebekah, Cody, Addison, and Tucker Dunton, and Matthias and Hannah Williams. He is survived by his immediate family and siblings, Mary Ellen Jahn, Tom Dunton (Natalia), Patty Gillespie, Amy Leblanc (John), Jeffrey Dunton, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dan graduated from New Lebanon High School in 1967. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he specialized as an E-5 Aviation Electrician. He served from 1968 to 1974, when he was honorably discharged. At the age of 50, he earned an associates degree with high honors in Electrical Circuits and Theory from HVCC. Dan was employed by Ceramaseal Incorporated for 27 years and has recently been employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in East Chatham and Canaan, NY. He especially enjoyed farming as an avocation. He was actively involved in the East Chatham Methodist Church for many years.
Calling hours will be at the Methodist Church in East Chatham, NY on Saturday, July 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a service immediately following.
