**Derek William Smith**

December 6, 1982 – August 4, 2024

Derek William Smith, aged 41, passed away unexpectedly. Born on December 6, 1982, Derek resided in Bennington Vermont for the last 20 years. He had a light hearted nature and a great love for family.

He is survived by his loving mother, Pamela (Michael) Farnham of Stephentown, NY; his brother, Nicholas (Stacy) Smith of Copake, NY; his sisters, Crystal (Steven) Coolidge of Chatham, NY, and Brooke (Brenda) Smith of Whitesboro, NY. Derek also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William F. Smith.

Calling hours will be held at French, Gifford, Preiter, & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Ave in Chatham, NY on August 24, 2024 from noon-2pm followed by refreshments at the American Legion All who knew and loved Derek are welcome to join in commemorating his life.
