Donald W. Nyfeler, 60, of Ghent passed away suddenly on his family farm on Thursday August 22, 2024. Born in Albany on 11/7/63 Don was the son of Jean C. Nyfeler (Hoefer) and the late Walter E. Nyfeler. Don was a graduate of Chatham High School and was employed by the Columbia County Highway Dept. for 2 years as a Machine Operator with his CDL license, which he was very proud of. He is survived by his mother Jean (Hoefer) Nyfeler, sisters Christine Opshanski (George) and Holly Tanner (Ron) along with 2 nephews and 1 niece, and many, many friends. Don was known for his ability to make people smile and laugh, always with a joke or funny story and will be missed by his family, friends and co-workers alike. Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 5 from 4 - 6pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home in Chatham with a short service at 6pm. A proud veteran of the US Army, Don served from 1983 till he was honorably discharged in 1985. He will be interred at a later date at Saratoga National Cemetery.
