Doris Gardina of Ghent, passed away November 11, 2006 at the Pine Haven Nursing Home, Philmont. She was born July 15, 1922 to John and Hazel Hilton Everett in Chatham. She attended and graduated from Chatham Schools. She worked as a sales person for Delsons here in Chatham and later met and married Claude Gardina of Ghent. A member of the Women's VFW in Ghent and a volunteer for the Ghent Food Pantry she was also a member of the Seniors Group of Ghent and a member of the ladies Auxiliary of the Ghent Fire Department. She enjoyed traveling and had gone cross country with her husband she had also enjoyed her cruises which included Alaska, Hawaii and Panama. Survivors include her four daughters; Claudia (Guy) Yaple of Florida, Rose (William) Hazel of Virginia, Janice (William) Moore of Long Island and Rita (John) Hanson of Ghent., her son; Richard ( Lisa) Gardina of Ghent, her two brothers; Cecil Everett of Florida and Merril (Pete) Everett Ghent she was also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Claude who passed away in 1993, a sister Frances Stone and a brother Hilton Everett. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A religious service will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30am by Deacon Peter Trawinski in the funeral home, interment will follow at the St. James Cemetery, Ghent.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the Philmont or the Greenport Rescue Squads in her memory.
