Eileen Salvatore, 68, of Hudson, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the Ghent Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 14, 1958, in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Delores (Shook) Salvatore. Eileen’s life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a deep love for her family and friends. Eileen dedicated much of her career to working as a waitress at local establishments, including the Warren Inn, the Columbia Diner, and Bob’s Restaurant. Her warm and caring nature endeared her to countless patrons and colleagues alike.
Eileen was affectionately known as "Tiny" or "Sissy" to family and friends. Those who knew Eileen cherished her for her open heart and willingness to help others—she was known to give the shirt off her back to someone in need. Eileen found great joy in family dinners, relishing the moments when everyone gathered around her table, sharing laughter and love.
Her interests and hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit. She delighted in trips to Saratoga Casino and Foxwoods with her life partner of 37 years, Michael Cross. Together, they also enjoyed attending local fairs in Rhinebeck and Chatham. Eileen had a passion for yard sales and nickel socials, and treasured the special girls’ days spent with her daughter and granddaughters.
Eileen is survived by her devoted life partner Michael Cross; her loving daughter Janell Rossi; and cherished grandchildren Imya DeJesus, Julianna Reid, Aziah Heard , and Dontel Reid. She was also close to special cousins Jim and Maggie Novak, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who held her dear.
She was predeceased by her brothers Felix, Joseph, and Michael Salvatore.
A time to share memories and offer condolences with the family will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Ave, Chatham, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen's memory may be made to the Columbia Greene Humane Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Robert M. Donaghue & Jessica M. Cunningham, French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham.
