Elinor (Ellie) K. Ouwerkerk 80, of Spencertown, passed away on June 7, 2015 after a long illness, surrounded by her loved ones. Born April 2, 1935 in Uniondale Long Island, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Martha Magdalinski Kelske. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Ron (Ski), daughters, Cindy (Mike) Rainey of Clayton, NC, Brenda (David) Oakes of Spencertown and Lori (Ron) Diego of Delmar, grandsons, Ron, Joel, Mathew and Joshua Daigle, Greg Melanson, RJ Diego, great-grandchildren, Emily, Austin, Nicholas, Andrew, Michael and Kyle, sister, Dot Thode, brothers, Ed (Ginny) Kelske of Long Island and Frank Kelske of Florida along with many many nieces and nephews. Born into a farming family Ellie loved to garden and raise animals. She also enjoyed playing cards and scrabble and the occasional scratch ticket.. Ellie was a homemaker and the book keeper for her husband's construction business. She was also the manager of O'Neil's florist in Chatham and for six years she was the secretary to the Town of Austerlitz planning board.. Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham on Sunday June 28th from 11A.M. to1P.M. at which time a religious service will be officiated by Rev. Drew Payton. Directly following the family would like all to join them at the Spencertown Fire Company ( Rt. 203 in Spencertown) for a celebration of Ellie's life. In Lieu of flowers, contributions in Ellie's name may be made to the Spencertown Women's Auxiliary or either the Spencertown or Austerlitz Fire Companies.
