Elizabeth Vergopia of Craryville, NY passed away December 29, 2016 at Albany Medical Center with her family by her side. Born October 31, 1921, in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late Giltan and Francesca Iarriccio Evangelist.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Elizabeth would meet her husband Joseph and marry in 1957. Elizabeth worked as a young lady at Bloomingdales in Manhattan as a private shopper working with such noted people as Zsa Zsa Gabore and others. She would come to Columbia County in 1973 where she and her husband were owners of the Catamount Inn and Take One Video in Hudson.
She was devoted to her husband and family. Elizabeth loved her time with her family and had just recently become a great grandmother. She enjoyed music especially her operas and loved to cook.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Dorothea (Keith) Celentano of Hillsdale, her step son, Sal (Janet) Vergopia of Saddle River, NJ, her granddaughters, Kristen (Steve) Gazone and Farrell Vergopia, Her grandson, Edward (Maryana Kozlova) Vergopia and her great granddaughter, Ellie Josephine Garzone, her sister Dorothea Stern and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, her sister, Angelina Argentina and her brother, Giltan Evangelist.
