Esther Virginia Tipple was born in Gary, Indiana, daughter of Filomena and John Pessetto. In 1944, her parents relocated to Chatham where they purchased a farm on Rt. 203. She graduated from Chatham High School in 1948. Her first job was at the GLF farm store in Chatham where she worked as a secretary. On March 19, 1949 she married Clyde Tipple and together they raised their family on a dairy farm purchased in 1954. With her husband, Tipple Equipment Company was established in 1961 where she served as a bookkeeper and secretary. She was a fifty year member of the Mellenville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a sixty year member of the Grange, and enjoyed singing in the Philmont Community Chorus. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed playing Yatzee and bingo. She is survived by her brother, Eugene Pessetto; her brother-in-law, Lloyd Tipple. Sister-in-law, Dorothy Kraft; her five children, David C. Tipple of Ghent, Bruce A. Tipple of Mellenville, Alison M. Tipple of Frankfort, NY, Cynthia P. Teator of Chatham, and Matthew P. Tipple of Mellenville and their spouses; 4 nephews and 1 niece; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Clyde on August 8, 2000; her son Brian on January 13, 1951; and her sister Eleanor (Pessetto) Moccio in 1989. When her health began to fail, she was cared for and was a resident at the Masonic Home in Utica, and the Sitrin Rehabilitation Center. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at these facilities and the Dialysis unit at Faxton-St. Luke's for their care. Calling hours will be at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl funeral home 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham on Sunday, July 30th from 6-9 pm. A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James in Chatham on July 31st. at 10 am with the interment at St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Scleroderma Foundation, the Mellenville Grange, the Mellenville Fire Company, or a charity of your choice.
