Forrest "Roger" Ellis

March 15, 1939 — November 12, 2016

Forrest "Roger" Ellis passed away peacefully on November 12, 2016 with his son and daughter by his side at Indian River Medical Center in Florida. Born March 15, 1939 in Hudson, NY, he was the son of the late Forrest M. and Sadie Harris Ellis. Forrest had been involved as a harness driver and trainer from his high school years through the late 60's, traveling the east coast. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed wintering in Florida and loved his time with his family. Forrest had been employed at Blue Seal Feeds in Chatham as a mill operator until his retirement. He is survived by his son, Wayne (Penny) Ellis of Ghent, daughter, Wendy (Patrick) Kerwin of Averill Park, his grandchildren whom he adored, Justin Ellis, Sadie Rose and Caitlin Kerwin, Zachary Ellis, KayLee and Gabbie McMann, and several nieces and nephews. Forrest was predeceased by his loving wife Frances, and his grandson, Brady Ellis. Family will receive friends on Friday November 18 at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home from 5 to 7pm. Religious services will be conducted on Saturday at 10am in the funeral home.
