Frances Murphy, of South Cairo, died April 3, 2010 at the Westchester Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude Wepprecht Masters. Frances was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur W. Murphy, Sr.  in 1993. Frances was a wonderful baker specializing in Christmas cookies and apple pies. She wintered in Florida and enjoyed bike riding and playing cards. She loved to crochet and at the age of 83 took her first plane ride, to Hawaii. She worked for and retired from the Nassau County Board of Elections. Frances is survived by her son, Arthur W. (Pam) Murphy Jr, of Elmont, NY, her daughters; Karen (Brian) Tappin, of Oceanside, CA and Patricia (Richard) Juliano, of Ghent, NY, her grandchildren; Jessica Iafrate, David Murphy, Diron Tappin, Airman Zachary Juliano and Kate Juliano, her great grandchildren; Brooke Iafrate, Maya Iafrate, Cole Tappin, Justin Murphy and Paige Murphy, her sisters; Gertrude Masters and Dorothy Betts and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Elmont funeral home, 1529 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, NY‎ ( (516) 437-2100‎) and Tuesday, April 6th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl funeral home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Cairo, NY April 7th at 12:30pm.  Interment will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Catskill, NY.
