Frank James (Jimmy) Moore of Ghent, New York passed peacefully on November 17,2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Carol, Donna and Mary were by his side.
Born to Frank J. and Anna E. (Plass) Moore on July 29, 1934. He was the second of five children. Jimmy grew up in Ghent and graduated from Chatham Central School. In 1955 he married Doris L. Davis. They celebrated over 50 years together before her passing in 2007.
Jimmy loved Ghent and took special pride in being a member of the Ghent Fire Company. He served in the capacity of every line officer and as he aged, he served as an administrative officer, working his way up to President. He was honored this year for 70 years if service and was so very pleased to attend the annual Columbia County convention parade held this summer, honoring 100 years of the Ghent Fire Department.
Jimmy also took pride in his work ethic. He's best described as a professional driver and equipment operator. From plowing snow for Columbia County, to driving truck of Associated Milk Haulers and Columbia Corporation, to driving school bus for Chatham Central School. He operated heavy equipment for Gardina Brothers of Ghent and JH Viebrock Excavating of Hudson. He always had something to do, or someone to see.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, his wife Doris, his grandson Jordan Coon, his granddaughter Kaytlin Coon, his sister Laura Moore Piester, and his brother John Moore. He is survived by his children, Carol and David Goold, Donna and Conrad Coon and Peter and Kristine Moore; his grandchildren Lukas and Kara Coon and Logan Coon; and the joy of his life, his great granddaughter Amelia Coon; his sisters Louise Jones and Margaret Larkin, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his partner in life and best friend, Mary O'Connor and her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Jimmy on Friday, November 24, 2023 at the FASNY Home; 125 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson, NY 12534. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a memorial service at noon. Burial will follow at the Ghent Union Cemetery.
