Franklin B. Stark, lifelong resident of Ghent, entered eternal rest on September 28, 2007 at the Pine Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Philmont, NY. Born March 30, 1936 to Frank B and Ethel V. Dederer Stark, he attended and was in the 1956 graduating class of Ockawamick Central School. While in school he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. Franklin helped on his family's dairy farm until 1987. He was a devoted member of the Grange holding positions of Master and Overseer at the Mellenville Grange where he was a member for 56 years; he had also held the position of Overseer at the Pamona Grange. He was a member of the Philmont Community Chorus and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Philmont where he enjoyed participating in the choir. He was also a board member of Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation. He enjoyed bowling and had been on several leagues over the years. He enjoyed family gatherings and will always be known for his sense of humor. He was a beloved brother and brother-in-law of John and Carolyn Stark, of Ghent, NY, Grace and Joseph Lis, of Greenport, NY, Betty and Ted Skumurski, of Albany, NY and Ruel Teaney , of Ghent, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews along with 11 great nephews and 8 great nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary L. Teaney. Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Ave., Chatham, on Monday 4-8 pm. Religious services will be celebrated at the funeral home Tuesday at 11am, please gather at 10:30am.
