Harriet L. Graham Bates, 72 of Mechanic Street, Valatie, died October 16, 2006 in West Chester, Ohio following a lengthy Illness. Born February 17, 1934 in Junction, ILL, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Molly Baldwin Graham. A resident of Columbia County for over 50 years.  She was the loving and compassionate care giver and friend of the late Mabel Golden of Chatham for over twenty years.  She enjoyed taking care of her family and especially cooking for them.  She had an instrumental role in raising her grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters; Cher-ri Bailey of West Chester, Ohio, Pamela Therrian of Monroe, Ohio and Kelly Coons of Chatham Center, NY, six grandchildren;  Dwayne Skinkle of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nicholas Bibbo of Adams, MA, No'el Bailey of Columbus, Ohio, Mandy Green of Spencertown, NY, Rebecca Coons of North Chatham, NY and Samantha Coons of Chatham Center, NY; four great grandchildren, one brother; Lowell Graham of Stockport, NY and one sister; Verlie Zimmerman of Frankfort, NY. She was predeceased by her grandson; Chad VanAllen, 3 Brothers; George Graham, Otis Graham JR, and Norman Graham, and one sister; Melba Woods. Calling hours will be Thursday October 19, 2006 from 11:30am to 1pm at The French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A graveside service and interment will follow at the Chatham Center Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Community Hospice of Columbia Green.
