Heather Anne (Simone) Marchetto of Ghent died June 19th
at her home surrounded by her family and many dear friends.
She was born in Manhattan on July
15, 1959 and moved to Hudson where she was a waitress for many
years. Heather then met and fell in love with her husband Kevin
Marchetto. They were married on June 8, 1991 and lived in Claverack for 15
years. Heather worked as a florist for Bouquets in Bloom and The
Rosery, she also ran her own business for Home Interiors
and Gifts for over 10 years receiving many awards and recognition for
success. After Kevin retired from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in
2006 they moved to North
Carolina to
start a new chapter in their lives. She continued her love of being
surrounded by flowers and worked as a floral designer at Jefferson
Florist in Greenville NC.
Due to her illness they returned to Columbia County in 2008 for her medical treatment. Between
treatments Heather and Kevin traveled, cruised, RV'd, swam with the
dolphins and enjoyed every precious moment together. Heather loved to
walk, garden and read .
When her illness progressed, with her husband, her
niece and caregiver; Kristine Marchetto, her group of "special girlfriends",
Debbie Pheiffer, Kim Shutts, Ellie Esselstyn, Darlene Concra , Lisa
Mossman, and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Marchetto and her many good friends and
relatives embarked on a mission of care, support and love.
She is also survived by her mother Georgelle Hirliman
of Santa Fe, NM, her sister Deborah Day of Clearwater, FL, her in-laws
Joseph and Dorothy Marcheto of Pittsfield MA, her sisters-in-law; Diane Faucher
and her husband Michael of Lenox, MA, Suzanne Desnoyers and her fiancee
Michael Gardella of East Chatham, her brother-in-law Joseph Marchetto Jr. of
Ghent and many nieces and nephews and many great friends. She will be
missed greatly by her beloved pets Brody Dog and Bella Bird.
Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford,
Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home in Chatham, Tuesday, June 23 from 5-7pm, a celebration of her life will follow at 7pm. For directions or to send an online remembrance
