Obituary

Helen C. Golden of Chatham Center, died October 25th. She was born February 15, 1916 in Austerlitz and was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Mary Frances Jenkins Curry. She was in the 1935 Graduating Class of Chatham High School and went to work at Delson's in Chatham for 54 years.  She was active at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years and was active in other branches of the church. She was a member of the Tri Village Auxiliary, the Chatham Historical Society and Chairperson of her reunions. Helen enjoyed the community and wrote the Along Main Street Column for the Courier and later Memory's Lane for a total of 45 years. She ran four benefits in her time for; an injured person, the cancer unit at Albany Medical Center, a man that needed a liver transplant and for a family that was burned out. She is survived by her husband Edward W. Golden, two nephews; Peter (Susan) and Patrick Curry, a great nephew; Stacy Patrick Curry and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Frank Curry. Family will receive friends Thursday October 29th., at 11am at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl funeral home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.
