Helen M. Michels passed away with the love of her family on Monday, June 17, 2013 at age 98. The beloved wife of Frank J. Michels and the revered mother of Mary E. Nielsen, Frank J. Michels, Jr., wife Kathleen, James H. Michels, wife Veronica, and Joseph P. Michels. Cherished grandmother of 7 grand children: John M. Stimmel, Michelle E. Dunn, Kristin M. Haynes, David C. Michels, Rosalyn M. Michels, Gregory J. Michels, Corinne M. March, and also 5 great grandchildren. Sister of the late Henry Hauf and Edward Hauf, and most special aunt of the Rev. Edward Hauf, OMI, and Robert Hauf. Helen was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph's Academy in Buffalo, a communicant of St. James Church in Chatham, NY. and a member of the Renew Faith Sharing Group there as well. Together with her husband Frank, Helen was a Master Gardener of the Lake Chautauqua Cooperative Extension. Her love of nature remained throughout her life. She was a resident of the Louis F. Payne Foundation in Chatham, NY and most recently of the Whittier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in Ghent, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the chapel of St. James Church in Chatham, NY at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20th. Condolences may be conveyed at www.frenchblasl.com.
