Hennie R. Simmons of Chatham died peacefully at her daughter's home in Canaan, NY on July 6, 2007. Mrs. Simmons was born December 9, 1920 to Leonard and Rigmor Senica in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1922 Hennie and her family arrived in The United States. She lived in Boston till the age of nine when her family moved to New York City. After graduating from high school, Hennie was employed by Dun and Brad Street as a typist. She married Donald G. Simmons and moved to Chatham where she raised two daughters, Donna and Deborah. Mrs. Simmons enjoyed sewing, golfing and gardening. She is survived by her 2 daughters; Donna K. Edwards of Canaan, NY and Deborah R. Aiezza of Castleton, NY, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald in 2002. Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham on Monday, July 9 from 10am to noon. Religious services will follow at the funeral home and will be conducted by the Reverend Gary DeWitt of the First Reformed Church of Chatham, where Mrs. Simmons had been a member. Interment will follow at the Chatham Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army in Hennie Simmon's memory.
