Howard C. Pike, 70, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015 surrounded by his family after suffering complications due to a stroke. Howard was born on September 22, 1944 to Dr. John and Virginia (Cowell) Pike in Albany, NY. He graduated from Bethlahem High School in 1962.
Howard is survived by his wife, Arlene, of 46 years; his two daughters, Jennifer Tom) Pike Petzold and Melissa (Joe) Pike Hicklin; his two grandchildren, Jonathan and Zachary Petzold; and his brother, Dr. Robert Pike. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, John and Nelson. He also leaves behind his three loving Cocker Spaniels.
In 1968 Howard began a long career for New York State's Department of Environmental Conservation working for them for 34years until he retired in 2002. Howard loved to spend time with his family, friends, and dogs. He enjoyed living in Chatham since 1972. He was an avid reader and New York sports fan. His house and gardens, much of which he built himself, were a true labor of love.
