Jacqueline "Jackie" Payne a lifetime Chatham resident passed away on May 17, 2015 beside her loved ones. Born in Hudson, NY on October 6, 1949, Jackie was a 1967 graduate of Chatham High School. She Enjoyed caring for her family and grandchildren, and would often make others smile by spreading her love and laughter, creating an infinite amount of unforgettable memories. Jackie was predeceased by her mother, Mary Louise Van Alstyne-Grimes, father, King Johnson, Sr, Brothers: William Van Alstyne Sr, Charles Van Alstyne Sr, Sisters: Mary Ellen Travis and Arlene Glover. She is survived by: Husband: Vernon "VJ" Payne Sr., Daughter Simone Calkins, Son Vernon "Rocky" Payne Jr. (Julie Pailley), Grandchildren: Marcus Williams (Blythe Hinkley-Grady), Shay Calkins, and Lauryn Calkins, siblings: Janice Murray, Patricia Bates, Louis Van Alstyne Sr, Corinne Summers, King Johnson Jr, and Perry Van Alstyne and many nephews and nieces. A memorial service celebrating Jackie's life will be held on Thursday May 21st at 1pm at Payne AME Church, 6 High St, Chatham, NY.
