IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Lucille
Frederick
May 4, 1934 – January 1, 2025
Jane Lucille Frederick, 90, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, in Sugar Hill, GA, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 4, 1934, in Fleetwood, PA, to Lawrence and Helen Koller, Jane grew up in nearby Kutztown, where she graduated high school before moving to Philadelphia. There, she worked as a telephone operator at the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot and met the love of her life, Arther Frederick. The two married in 1958 in Kutztown and began a life together in Chatham, NY. In 1960, they moved to Chatham Center, where they raised their family and were deeply involved in the community until relocating to Greenville, SC, in 2017, and later to Sugar Hill, GA, in 2022.
Jane was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished family and community. She worked as an office administrator at Mary E. Dardess Elementary School in Chatham for 26 years, where her warmth and kindness touched the lives of countless children and colleagues.
Jane had a love for dancing, sewing, music, and bargain hunting at resale shops. She and Art shared a passion for dance, teaching lessons together and inspiring others with their elegance and grace. A longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Chatham, Jane sang in the choir, and volunteered her time in various capacities, including as an usher and seamstress at the Mac-Hadyn Theatre. She was also a member of the Sports Car Club of America, Tri-Village Fire Company Auxiliary, Chatham BPW, and served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Her selfless nature extended to driving seniors to medical appointments and doing alterations for friends and neighbors.
Jane was predeceased by her husband, Arther, and her brother, Stanley Koller. She is survived by her sister, Radelle Swoyer of Greenville, SC; her children, Mark (Darsi) Frederick of Canaan, NY; Beth (Telly) Fatsis of Madison, WI; David (Wendi) Frederick of Lakewood, IL; and Susan (Andrew) Barbieri of Suwanee, GA. Jane also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jenna (John) Kinnicutt; Kelsey Frederick and fiancé Andy Shive; Kevin Frederick and fiancée Kate Martino; Justin (Amanda) Frederick; Matthew Frederick and fiancée Breanna Ladd; Daniel Frederick; Jason Barbieri and longtime girlfriend Ruth Adams; Christopher Barbieri and longtime girlfriend Onyx Oh; Samantha (Anthony) Kapusta and their children, Connor, Alex, and Vincent; as well as great-grandchildren Sophia and Chloe Frederick.
Jane will be remembered by all who knew her as a sweet, kind, gentle, and inspirational presence. She had an innate elegance and a deep love for her family, friends, and community.
Jane and Art's enduring partnership was a testament to love, and their shared joy in dancing and traveling left a lasting impression on all who knew them.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane's memory may be made to the Tri-Village Fire Company in Old Chatham, NY.
A celebration of Jane and Art's remarkable lives will be held in the Chatham area in the spring. Jane Lucille Frederick will be greatly missed, but her legacy of kindness and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
