Jean Carl, 76, of Mellenville, died peacefully at home on March 4, 2010. Born December 5, 1933 in Ghent, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Victor Cantele. Jean was a graduate of Philmont High School and the Mildred Ely School of Business in Albany.  She worked for several lawyers in the area before joining the postal service, retiring as Postmaster in Philmont. She is survived by her daughter and her husband Deborah and Brian Neal of Catskill, and her son and his wife David and Leslie Carl of Mellenville; her four grandchildren, Kelly Carl of Los Angeles CA, Ryan Carl of Mellenville, Caitlin Neal of Coxsackie, and Scott Neal of Catskill; her great grandchild, Jackson Carl, and her brother Marco Cantele of Southern Pines, North Carolina. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Harry K. Carl, and her brother Benjamin Cantele. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church in Chatham on Tuesday, March 9th at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be private.
