Missing her time abroad she was hired, again among the first women to be so, by UNICEF as a director of Human Resources and sent to Jakarta, Indonesia where she met John L. In 1982 John was sent as Consul General to San Francisco where he and Jane were to greet and entertain Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on their visit to the west coast. Jane was an enthusiastic and accomplished tennis player, figure skater and loved snorkeling but most of all she loved animals.
