Cunningham
March 19, 1944 – December 1, 2023
Jeanne A. Cunningham, affectionately known as Bunny to her family, passed away peacefully at home with her family on December 1, 2023, in Kinderhook, New York. Born on March 19, 1944, in Hudson, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eva Nichols Cunningham. Jeanne was the sister of Stephen (Vicki) Cunningham and was predeceased by her brother Charles Cunningham. Jeanne lived a life filled with love, creativity, and service, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Jeanne's early life set the stage for her nurturing spirit. She attended Ockawamick School in Claverack before pursuing her passion for caregiving by studying nursing in Georgia. Jeanne dedicated over 30 years to her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, where she provided comfort and care to countless individuals with a gentle touch and warm smile.
In addition to her professional work, Jeanne was a talented artist with a passion for storytelling. She wrote and illustrated children's books, sharing her imagination and joy for life through her creative works. Her artistic talents extended to painting, sewing, and crafts, creating handmade treasures that became cherished gifts for family and friends alike. Jeanne enjoyed gardening, fishing, and cooking for her family. These were her favorite pastimes which she loved sharing with her children and grandchildren.
Family was the cornerstone of Jeanne's life. She raised her four children on her own and instilled a sense of perseverance and self-reliance in all of them. She is survived by her loving daughters, Patty (Rich) Collins, Karen (Austin) Sheffer, Eva (Chuck) Elliott, and her son Burt (Tatiana) Sheffer. Jeanne's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Danny (Isabella) Kuhner, Sean Sheffer, John Collins, Ian Elliott, and Vera Sheffer, as well as her great-grandchildren, Valentina, Benjamin, and Penelope Kuhner, who will miss her deeply.
