Jeanne Limberg Schroeppel passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was born to William and Sophie Wenck Limberg on January 6, 1926. Jeanne attended Julia Richman High School in New York and married Robert Schroeppel in 1948. They enjoyed a wonderful life together, making their home in Lindenhurst, NY, then in Eutawville, SC and finally in Ghent,NY.
Together they traveled all over the United States, frequently visiting Disney World. They had a great fondness for Alaska and were there three times, fishing for salmon and enjoying the wilderness landscapes. A beer garden in Munich was on the itinerary on a trip to Europe. After Bob's passing Jeanne still had the urge to see new things and went on frequent trips with senior groups. She treated each of her granddaughters to a trip to a country of their choice. Alison chose Australia and off they went to see the sights and people down under. Rebecca wanted to see Egypt and along with seeing the pyramids they went for a camel ride.
At home Jeanne truly loved being a homemaker. She loved to cook, spend time in her garden (riding the mower til her son put an end to that!) and sewing everything from clothing to drapes, curtains, and stuffed animals for her grandchildren. She was the very proud mother of an Eagle Scout and an active member of her church wherever she lived, and she tirelessly attended school events with her grandchildren. While in New York Jeanne worked for Suffolk County in the department of consumer affairs.
Jeanne spent her last years at Peregrine Landing at the Shoreline, not far from the beach in Clinton, CT where she walked as often as she could. She collected shells every time she went. For eight years she enjoyed the love and care of a truly amazing staff. Her family is profoundly grateful to each of them for all they have done and especially for all kindnesses we will never know.
Left behind are children Rick and PL Schroeppel of Hollowville NY and Diane and Rick Johnson of Ivoryton CT, grandchildren Matthew, Dan and Luke Johnson. Alison, Rebecca, Rob and Shannon Schroeppel and great ganddaughters Willa Annabelle and Etta Annalise Schroeppel. She will be sadly missed but goes to heaven where we know there is a celebration in her honor.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral home in Chatham, NY. The service will be Friday, January 16th at 11am and burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
