Obituary

Jerome DeBraccio, 88, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady on September 27, 1930, Jerome was one of five children of Angelo and Angelina (Favata) DeBraccio. He grew up on Lower Broadway in Schenectady and was a proud graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Albany College of Pharmacy. In between high school and college Jerome met the love of his life, Dorothy Notar, at Mount Carmel Church in Schenectady where he was a faithful usher. The two were married on May 24, 1959 at Mount Carmel Church. Jerome and Dorothy owned and operated Colonial Pharmacy on Congress Street in Schenectady for thirteen years. They provided an amazing service for the Italian population in Mont Pleasant in helping them understand their medication(s) and doctor's instructions. After closing the Pharmacy Jerome went to work for the New York State Department of Social Services, investigating Medicaid fraud. Jerome also honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. A man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. Jerome would do anything to help you. He cherished his family and grandchildren and especially loved family vacations or any time we could all be together. He particularly enjoyed getting the whole family around the table for a round of Pinochle, where he was an ace. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years Dorothy; as well as his parents, sister, Louise Bakowski , and brother, Angelo Jr. Survivors include Jerome's three children, Angela (Tom) Jordan, Jerry DeBraccio, and Pamela (Craig) Hutton. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Jeremy (Tara) Jordan, Carly Jordan, Abby Hutton, James Hutton, and Jacob DeBraccio. Jerome's sister, Philomena and brother, Vincent (Julie) DeBraccio, as well as several nieces and nephews, also survive their brother and uncle. His family welcomes family and friends on Monday, October 22 from 4 to 7 pm. at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, October 23 at Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road.
