On Thursday, February 9,, 2017, Joanne(Davis) Halstead of Chatham, N.Y., passed away peacefully at home. Born March 1, 1952 in Hudson, N.Y. to Kenneth and Charlotte(Alamillo) Davis. She was a lifelong resident of the Ghent and Chatham area. Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, John Halstead; her daughter Amy (Mark) Massey, her son Adam(Laura) Halstead and her grandchildren, Emma and Bryce Halstead, who were her heart and joy. She is survived by siblings Kenneth W. Davis, Harold(Donna) Davis, Judith(Charles) Siter, Thomas(Laura) Davis, Gary(Ann) Davis, Donald(Lynda) Davis and Peter(Ellen) Davis; sisters in law Ann(Dan) Halstead, Carolyn(John) Mosandel and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings James Davis, Charlene Davis and Frank Davis. Joanne attended Chatham Central Schools and worked for many years at Barnwell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center before retiring in 2014. She enthusiastically went above and beyond in her care for the residents of Barnwell. The happiest times for Joanne were flower gardening, watching all the wildlife in her yard, Sunday drives on the backroads of Columbia County, vacations to the southern coast of Maine and most importantly all the special times with her family. Joanne was a loving wife, devoted mother and the best "Grammy" ever. She was loved, is missed and lasting memories will be in the hearts of many. Family will receive friends on Wednesday February 15, 2017 from 5 to 7p.m. at French, Gifford, Prieter & Blasl Funeral Home. Private interment at the Chatham Village Rural Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
