Agar, John D. of Ghent on September 3. Born in Newburgh, New York he moved to East Chatham soon afterwards.  He attended Chatham School and afterwards served in the military.  When he returned he worked at Berkshire Farms until becoming a truck driver for  Tom Shanahan he would spend his working career driving for various companies including Greyhound and ECO. He married Ardyce Trowbridge on April 22, 1975 and moved to Ghent in 1979.  He was active as a member in the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department.     He is survived by his wife, Ardyce Agar, mother; Ann Heyl, son: Danile (Jade) Agar, Step children; Thomas Shanahan Jr and Christy and Wayne Drowne, Step grandchildren; Kelly and Julia Shanahan.   Arrangements are under the direction of the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham and are private.  If you wish, contributions may be made to the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department in John's memory.To send an on-line condolence, visit www.frenchblasl.com
