Joseph V. of Chatham passed away at his home on May 26, 2006. He was born February 25, 1929 in the Bronx, New York to Louis and Mary Sacchitiello Archetti. Educated in the Bronx he was a graduate of James Monroe High School. After high school Mr. Archetti worked with his dad at a family owned gas station and later went to work for the New York City Department of Sanitation. After 24 years he retired as District Superintendent. He was married to Dorothy Quinn on January 16, 1950 at St. Helena's Church in the Bronx. In 1976 he moved to Chatham where they had visited every year with Dorothy's family. He went to work for the Chatham Central School district as a bus driver and handled the Canaan Route for the next 26 years. He enjoyed working and mowing his lawn. His love though, was his family and friends. He will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Dorothy Quinn Archetti, his mother Mary Archetti of the Bronx, his sons Louis of Secaucus, New Jersey, Richard (Louise) of Pine Beach, New Jersey, Ronald (Kevin) of Warren, Rhode Island and Andrew (Dana) of Swansboro, North Carolina, his sisters Irene Discero and Rita (Bob) Kelley and his brother John (Carmen) Archetti, his grandchildren Alexandra Archetti, Allison and Brandon Jones and Michelle Trafney, his many nieces and nephews and his dear friends. Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, Sunday May 28th from 6 to 9pm. Monday May 29th from 11:30am. Graveside service will be presided over by Rev. Gary Gelfenbien at the Spencertown Cemetery at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society or the Community Hospice of Columbia Green may be made in his memory.
