Joseph J. Marchetto Sr. passed away March 17, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Care Center in Lenox MA. with his family by his side. Born August 5, 1929 in West Stockbridge MA., he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Lucia Sgreva Marchetto from Gambrellara Italy.
He was a graduate of the former Williams High School in Stockbridge, MA. and served in the Air Force prior to starting his own trucking business, Marchetto Trucking, from 1951 to 1967.
Together with his wife and family they built and operated Woodland Hills Campground in Austerlitz, NY from 1969 to 1983. Upon retiring he went on to work for Luchi Builders, Nolan Trucking and William Kie Trucking until he retired at 80.
He is pre deceased by his sister Antoinette Carpino, and his brothers, Mario and Guido (John) Marchetto and daughter-in-law Heather Marchetto.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy, children; Diane (Michael) Faucher of Pittsfield, MA., Jospeh Marchetto Jr. (Stephen O'Reilly) of Hudson NY, Kevin (Karen) Marchetto of Kinderhook, NY and Suzanne Desnoyers (Michael Gardella) of Canaan, NY, grandchildren; Sarah Truden, Michelle Contenta, Craig, Scott and Logan Desnoyers, Kristine Wills, Jennifer and Michael Marchetto and 6 great grandchildren and his dog Mandy.
Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending his winters in Florida.
Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home on April 8th at 10am with a prayer service at 11:30, interment will follow at Austerlitz Cemetery.
