Obituary

Josephine Stahowski passed away on February 16th 2014. Josie was born on August 23, 1927 to the late Thomas and Teresa Alauria of Brooklyn New York. Josie is survived by her beloved daughters Joanne Craft (John) of Ghent, and Theresa (Joseph) Nostrand of Walden New York,  four grandchildren Audrey, Laura, Robert and Steven and great grand daughter Emily Quell, her sister Ann Chambers of Philmont, and several nieces and nephews. Josie was preceded by her beloved husband of 59 years Walter Stahowski, her dear sister Tina Dolci and brother Archie Alauria. Josie moved to her stepfather's family farm in Philmont when she was nine. Josie enjoyed living and working on the farm. At age 26 Josie met Walter Stahowski whom she married in 1954. Besides working on the farm Josie also worked as a seamstress for many years at Miss Bea's in Philmont and Nancy Ann's Dress Shop in Hudson. Then moved on to be a cook at the Pine Haven Nursing Home where she eventually retired from. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, please gather at 11:30, on Saturday February 22nd at the French Gifford Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home 25 Railroad Avenue Chatham New York 12037.  Calling hours will be Friday February 21st from 4pm to 7pm. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Rural Cemetery on Martindale Road. Donations in Josephine's name to the Columbia Greene Humane Society would be appreciated.
