Joshua Castillo-Rivera, 26, of Canaan, New York passed away suddenly on July 9, 2015. Joshua was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, later moving to Spanish Harlem and then to Canaan, New York. He is predeceased by his mother Ana Castillo, grandfather Daniel Rivera-Guzman and survived by his father Pedro (Tito) Castillo of Ponce, Puerto Rico, his grandmother Yvette Rivera-Gutierrez, his adoptive parents, Michael Billman and Helen Goerlitz of Canaan, New York, his brother Pedro Castillo-Rivera of Canaan, New York and his two sisters Johanna Castillo-Rivera from Jersey City, NJ and Xiomara Castillo-Rivera of Albany, NY and his nieces Ana Torres, Ariana Gonzalez, Arianna Kennedy-Castillo.
Joshua attended Chatham High School. He later acquired his High School diploma in a special program. A bright, intelligent fun loving person, Joshua lived and worked in the Bronx and Manhattan, NY and most recently returned to Canaan, NY. Joshua enjoyed music, handball, playing hoops, video games and being with family and friends.
