Obituary

Katherine E. Tucker died peacefully at Whittier Rehab in Ghent NY, Friday September 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted T. Tucker and her sister Louise S. North. Katherine is survived by her daughter Emily L. Tucker of Ocean Springs, MS and her son Michael S. Tucker (Diane) of Valatie, NY. Also, grandchildren JJ Brown (Jennifer) of Boone, NC; Patrick T. Brown (Jenny) of Boone, NC; Margaux J. Brown of Chicago, IL; Eric Z. Tucker (Bing) of Bound Brook, NJ; Caitlin E. Tucker of Brighton, MA. Also, great-grandchildren Tucker, Cooper, & Lizzie Brown of Boone, NC, and Charlotte & Henry Tucker of Bound Brook, NJ. Also, nephew Paul North (Marie) of Allentown, PA and their daughter Loren of Phoenix, AZ. She graduated from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) in Glenside, PA and had lived in England, Germany, and Falls Church, VA while her husband was in the service. They moved their family to Charlottesville, VA in 1964 where she worked for the Virginia school system and, with her husband, owned an imported car repair business called Loki Automotive. She moved to Chatham, NY in 1997 and volunteered at the senior lunch program until moving to Ghent a few years ago. She enjoyed reading, computers, art, and authored & illustrated a children's book about spiders. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and encouraging them to excel in their passions. She inspired her family and friends with her determination and her life-long love of learning.
