Kazimierz (Casey) Karwowski, of Chatham, NY (formerly of East Meadow, NY), died peacefully in his sleep, December 13, 2006. Beloved husband of Mary, (nee) Haliniewski, devoted and loving father to John of East Greenbush, Paul and Linda of East Meadow, N.Y., loving grandfather of Michelle he is also survived by cousin Tadeusz Pienkowski and his wife Helen, of Chatham, NY.and uncle to Lee Halinewski and Lynn Baker of Union, NJ. Born in Penza, Poland, March 5, 1924 to Marianna and Jan Karwowski. He was predeceased by his loving siblings Janka, Steffa and Manjek.. He was a life member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, originally local #1921, Uniondale, Long Island, NY. He fought during WWII, serving in the British 8th Army, 2nd Polish Division and was decorated at the battle of Monte Casino, 1944. The family will receive friends, Friday 7-9PM at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Ave., Chatham. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday by the Reverend Gary Gelfenbien at 9:30am in Saint James Church. Interment will follow at the Red Rock Cemetery.Contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Lance Armstrong Cancer Research Fund in his memory.
