Keith Steltz of Chatham passed away December 1, 2015 at the Barnwell Nursing Home after a long illness. Born July 28, 1926 in Lewistown, PA he was the son of the late Robert and Esther Steltz. He served in the US Navy during WWII, graduating in June of 1944 and went directly to the induction center in Tampa Fl. After leaving the Navy in 1947 he went to work for the New York Central where he worked as a switch operator until the late sixties. From there Keith went on to work at Crellin Plastics for 18 years until his retirement. Keith loved the railroad and would spend a lot of time just watching the trains come and go. He enjoyed high school sports and little league. He also liked watching his son coach. He was a religious man and found peace in his time spent at the Bible Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Scott (Shannon) Steltz of Valatie and his grandchildren, Cooper, Brayden and Laney. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Russell and his sister Alice. Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home Friday, December 4th from 5 to 7pm.
