Kevin Ellard Martin, 59, of Chatham, died suddenly September 3, surrounded by his family. Kevin was a lifelong resident of Chatham NY, and graduated from Chatham High School where he excelled at baseball, football and basketball. Kevin's many passions were hunting, fishing, gardening and spending quality time with his friends and family. Kevin loved the saxophone and his new puppy, Charlie. Kevin is survived by his son Kevin Michael Martin, daughter Brenda S. Gilbert and companion Laura Jones, whom he loved deeply, Chris E. Benton and Gail M. Martin. Kevin is also survived by his parents, Marilyn (DeVane) and Edwin J. Martin, by his brother Edwin J. Martin (Lorraine), sister, Cherylee A. Martin-Endryck, brother Steven D. Martin, brother Paul R. Martin and brother Adam J. Martin (Rebecca). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be Friday, September 5, between 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, at French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home. A mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 am. Further arrangements will be handled privately by the family. Donations may be made to the United Way or a favorite charity of your choice.
