Obituary

Scully, Lillian B. died September 1st at the Barnwell Nursing Home.  Born September 9, 1919 to William and Nielsine Erickson Brorup in Hutchinson, MN. She was raised by a beloved foster mother Bessie Lossee.   She attended Chatham High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army as a medical laboratory technician in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. She married her late husband, Arthur W. Scully on January 10, 1946.    Lillian was one of the first Avon representatives in the area, also managing Town and Country Fabric in Chatham.  She later retired from B.H.Delson & Co.   She was a life member of the ladies Auxiliary to the Chatham Fire Department, was a charter member of the East Chatham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Association.  Lillian was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Rosary Society of Saint James Church.  When her children were young she was a 4-H Leader, was active in the Canaan PTA and The Home Bureau.   She is survived by four daughters and one son; Sharon (Joseph) Frering of East Chatham, Kathleen (Robert) Bielawa of Hudson, NH, Eileen (Bradford) Child of Salem, OR, Maureen (John) Howe of Chatham and James Scully (Maryjane O'Malley) of Troy, nine grandchildren; Ronald Frering, Robert Frering, Tracey Frering Bentley, Timothy Bielawa, Megan Bielawa Davison, Rebecca Child, Alexander Child, Kyle Howe and Kira Howe, five great grandchildren; Taylor Frering, Morgan Frering, Emily Phillips, Max Frering and Skyler Bentley, one sister; Evelyn Decker of Foley, AL, one nephew and three nieces.   She was predeceased by her brother Carl. W. Brorup.   Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham Wednesday   at  9am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gary Gelfenbien at 10 am at Saint James Church, Interment will follow at Saint James Cemetery, Ghent.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chatham Fire Departments Timothy Charron Scholarship fund or to the Columbia Greene Humane Society.   For directions or to send an on line condolence, please visit www.frenchblasl.com.
