Lillie C. Gerrick of Ghent, passed away April 27, 2012 at the Pine Haven Nursing Home. Born January 3, 1907 in Rensselaer, NY, she was the daughter of the late James Frederick and Lucille Hunt Clark.
Lillie graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1924 and attended Albany Business College. She worked for AT&T for 19 years, leaving to raise her three children. She then worked in the Purchasing Department of Sterling Winthrop Research until her retirement in 1972. After retirement, she worked part time at the Payn Home. She had moved to Chatham in 1954. Lillie was a long time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and had been a former treasurer of the Lutheran Church Women, Church Council member, Synod delegate, sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a life member of chapter #256 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a life member of the Court of Amaranth #100 including serving as a Royal Matron, the Chatham Chapter of the Columbia Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and assisted with the Chatham Nutrition Program . Lillie loved to watch the birds at her feeder right outside her window; she was an avid reader and a prolific producer of fine needle point.
She is survived by her daughters Jean (Gordie) Engel of Ghent and Elizabeth (Ron) Macfarlane of Old Chatham, her four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son Arthur Gerrick, her sisters Laura Gardner, Lucille Pike, Florence Vrooman, Ruth House and her brothers Everett, Thomas, Frederick and Charles Clark.
Family will receive friends Thursday May 3, 2011 from 4 to 7pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at the funeral home at 1pm, please gather at 12:30. Interment will follow at the Blooming Grove Rural Cemetery in North Greenbush.
