Lorraine Sue Mcarthur

Lorraine Sue McArthur, 90, of Chatham, NY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Born on July 5, 1927, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Andrew and Myrtle Johnson. She was raised and educated in Kingston, NY. She moved to Chatham, NY in 1948 where she raised her family with her late husband, Donald McArthur, Sr. Lorraine is survived by her children; Sheila VanAlstyne, Donald McArthur, Barbara VanAlstyne (Theodore), Priscilla McArthur (King VanAlstyne), Leonard McArthur (Brigette VanNess), Gloria McArthur, Douglas McArthur, and Lisa McArthur; her siblings; Larry, Ronnie, Ramone, Barbara, and Hilda; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her daughter, Rosemarie; siblings; Charles, Egbert, Andrew, Leo, Margaret, Colatta and Gloria; and granddaughter, Therese VanAlstyne Brown. Lorraine was very active in the Payne AME Church where she enjoyed her time singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She also loved music and traveling. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 29th, 2018 from 12pm – 1pm at the Payne AME Church, 6 High Street, Chatham, NY 12037. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1pm.
