Madeline F. Voelbel, Of Chatham, died peacefully on June 7, 2013, at Albany Medical Center, after a short illness. She was born in New York City in 1925 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Susbeck Koller formerly of East Chatham.
She attended Chatham High School and after moving to Manhattan, worked as a secretary at the Bank of New York on Wall Street for many years. She returned to Chatham in 1959.
She was a communicant of St. James R. C. Church and was active in their religious education program for many years. She worked as a legal secretary for the law offices of Shanahan and Cappozzo for several years and was also active in the former Woman's Club of Chatham.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Lorraine) Martin, 3rd; a son, Frederick M. Voelbel; two granddaughters, Mrs. Jacob (Diana) Dumesnil and Katherine Martin, a great grandson, Cole Dumesnil, and several nieces and nephews.
Madeline was predeceased by her husband, Frederick and her sister Rose Cappozzo.
Calling hours will be private. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 12th. by Rev. Gary Gelfenbien at Saint James Church, Chatham, at 11 am. Interment will follow at the Saint James Cemetery, Ghent.
