Marcia Parlman, 85, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at Ghent Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born on February 9, 1941, in Rutland, Vermont, she was the daughter of Francis and Louise (McCarty) Weaver.
Marcia’s early years in Vermont helped shape her lifelong love of learning. She graduated from college at Trinity College in her home state, majoring in Philosophy and English. From 1963-1967 Marcia worked as a proofreader/editor at Newkirk Associates in Albany, NY. In the mid-1970s, Marcia became a substitute teacher for Chatham Central School, serving from 1975 until around 1980. In 1999, she embarked on a new career as the owner and operator of L&M Laundromat in Chatham. Which she ran successfully until 2009.
Marcia’s love for creating beauty found expression in her gardens and through the meals she prepared for her family. She found joy and fulfillment in gardening and cooking, often bringing loved ones together over home-cooked meals and the tranquility of her outdoor spaces. She was also deeply creative, spending countless hours coloring, drawing, and painting. Her artwork and gardens were reflections of her gentle soul and artistic vision.
Above all, Marcia’s greatest joy came from her family. She delighted in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding endless happiness in their laughter and milestones. Her very opinionated nature carries on through those who knew and loved her best.
Marcia is survived by her loving son, Barry Parlman, and her daughter, Erin Parlman. She is fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Kristen Parlman, Lindsay Parlman, and David Parlman. Her great-grandchildren, Ryker Withrow, Everest and Lydia Plotzker, and by her brothers, Brian Weaver and Richard Weaver, and her sister, Theresa Osburn. In addition to several nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lawrence Parlman, and her son, Brendan Parlman.
