Obituary

Marion Decker of Chatham Center died Wednesday July 4th at the Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie. Born March 29, 1925 in Hudson, New York to Leon and Edna Ploss Christiana, Mrs. Decker spent most of her life in Chatham Center.  She attended Chatham Schools and then went on to work as a seamstress at Riley's Mill in Valatie.  She worked until she started a family and became a full time homemaker. Her hobbies included crocheting and her flower garden and the rest of her spare time was devoted to her family. She is survived by her daughter; Darlene Decker-Harvey of Chatham, two sons: Wayne Decker of East Nassau and Arthur Decker of Mellenville, seven grandchildren; Melissa Decker, Tina Turner, Crystal Phelps, Nadine Perusse, Ike Harvey, Nathan Harvey and Martin Harvey and eleven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard J. Decker in 1981. Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham on Friday July 6 from 7-9 pm.  Religious services will be conducted by Rev. John Williams on Saturday at 11am in the funeral home and interment will follow at the Chatham Center Cemetery. For directions or to send an online condolence please visit www.frenchblasl.com.
