Her adoring family and the hamlet of Red Rock mourn the passing of a beloved matriarch, Marjorie Marie Goerlitz Welch on January 8, 2016.  Marge was 94 years old and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her daughter, Linda Welch, son, Donald Welch, grandchildren Erin, Shauna, Jonathan and Donnie and great-grandchildren Josephine, Preston and Beckett.  Originally a resident of Mount Vernon, NY; Marge and the rest of her family left Westchester to become full-time residents of Red Rock in the 1940's, where she continued to live until her passing.  She was predeceased by her husband, Donald C. Welch Sr., and her four siblings; John Goerlitz (Yonkers, NY), Louise Ostling (Fort Myers, FL), Charlie Goerlitz (Ghent, NY) and Marie Burson (Red Rock, NY).  Marge had deep love for animals (especially dogs, excluding chickens), back yard bird feeders, and sweets of any shape or size.  Independent and strong willed to the very end, Marge was quick witted and had a warm, youthful smile that belied her age.  A lunch in celebration of her life will be held at the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Company at noon on January 17, 2016.  All are welcome.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Company, 401 County Route 24, East Chatham, NY 12060.
