Marylin Rose Sammaciccia

September 14, 1961 — January 30, 2025

MaryLin Rose Sammaciccia, 63, died peacefully on Jan. 30 at Ghent Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. MaryLin was born on Sept. 14, 1961, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of the late Rose Sammaciccia (née Rybka) and the late Joseph Sammaciccia, and was predeceased by her brother, Joseph.

MaryLin, who lived with Down syndrome, was the apple of her family's eye. She attended public school in Brooklyn and then spent her time at home in the company of her parents, family, and friends.

MaryLin enjoyed music, especially the songs of Michael Jackson, and she liked to color and help around the house. She had a wonderful laugh and sense of humor, and she enjoyed caring for and loving her dolls. MaryLin also liked to dance and loved desserts.

She is survived by several loving cousins, including her godmother, Mary Ann Kovalich, and her dear friend Patricia Musynske. MaryLin's family is grateful for the gift she was and how she enriched their lives.

MaryLin's family extends its deep appreciation to the staff at Ghent Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the compassionate care they provided to MaryLin during her time there.

Funeral services for MaryLin were held on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home in Chatham, NY.
